The Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts's(Economic Development) mission is to encourage and promote the balanced economic growth of Tasmania.

As the Tasmanian Government's development agency, Economic Development is the first point of government contact for companies wishing to relocate, establish, diversify, expand or continue business in the State.

Economic Development provides a range of support services including research, information on the Tasmanian business environment, specific industry strategies and advice on strategic development.

Through the development of business export programs and marketing plans, the Department can assist Tasmanian companies in developing export trade relationships.

Economic Development uses strategic alliances and networks to co-ordinate a number of promotional and trade related activities for Tasmanian enterprises including exhibiting at targeted trade shows, facilitating national and international promotions as well as organising inward buyer programs.
